Top tips from the professionals, part 1…!

With less than two weeks to go before the eve of the BAS National Show, here are ten top preparation tips from our Gold Sponsors Barbara and Paul at Beck Brow Alpacas.

1. PAT test all electrical equipment, take extension leads and cable ties.
2. Ensure trailers have been serviced and everything is in good working order.
3. Check microchips or ear tags.
4. Recent Faecal Egg Counts or worming.
5. Trim top knots if required & toe nails.
6. Check hotel reservation and directions.
7. Make sure your alpacas are confident on a halter and practice loading them
8. Remember that you are there for 3 days so pack plenty of food for the alpacas ( we once ran out of hay!)
9. Don’t forget your poo pan and brush
10. Take a camera to capture your memories, its a great event.

Winning fleeces on display…

Judging for the the National Fleece Show took place over the weekend of 10th & 11th March. The winning fleeces will be on display at the BAS National Show on 24th and 25th March at the Telford International Centre.

The BAS would like to thank the Eastern Alpaca Group for hosting the Fleece Show and Liz Barlow and Tim Hey who judged the event.

Coming to the Show as a visitor?
Even if you are not exhibiting your animals at the Show, a day out at the BAS National Show is a day well spent. Chat to the exhibitors, watch the showing, visit over 20 trade and craft stands and perhaps make the odd purchase or two! Entry to the show is £2 per person or £5 per family donated to Severn Hospice. No need to book, just put the date in your diary!

The British Alpaca Society extend an invitation to all European alpaca owners and breeders to attend our annual BAS National Show on the 24th and 25th of March 2018.

Have you thought about coming to the BAS National Show from Mainland Europe? There will be approximately 90 breeders and 600 alpacas to see being judged, an informative fibre zone, including a fleece show, relevant trade stands and a gala dinner on the Saturday evening,

Getting to the show is so easy! The Telford International Centre is in the Heart of the UK and is only 50 mins by car, taxi or train from Birmingham Airport (BHX) which is a major destination hub for most major European and International Airlines, many of whom fly into Birmingham daily. Hotels are located on the same site as the show and offer a discounted rate to those quoting BAS 2018.

Once your event is over, Telford is also a great gateway to the treasures Shropshire has to offer if you’d like more time to explore.
