A warm welcome awaits our International visitors..!

The British Alpaca Society extend an invitation to all European alpaca owners and breeders to attend our annual BAS National Show on the 24th and 25th of March 2018.

Have you thought about coming to the BAS National Show from Mainland Europe? There will be approximately 90 breeders and 600 alpacas to see being judged, an informative fibre zone, including a fleece show, relevant trade stands and a gala dinner on the Saturday evening,

Getting to the show is so easy! The Telford International Centre is in the Heart of the UK and is only 50 mins by car, taxi or train from Birmingham Airport (BHX) which is a major destination hub for most major European and International Airlines, many of whom fly into Birmingham daily. Hotels are located on the same site as the show and offer a discounted rate to those quoting BAS 2018.

Once your event is over, Telford is also a great gateway to the treasures Shropshire has to offer if you’d like more time to explore. Close at hand are medieval Shrewsbury, Shifnal and the City of Wolverhampton, Bridgnorth, and of course, the Ironbridge Gorge – the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, and home to the world famous Iron Bridge.

In Telford itself, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to activities on the doorstep – attractions within walking distance include a 10-screen cinema, a bowling alley, and the largest indoor shopping complex in Shropshire with over 180 stores.

A local landscape which inspired JRR Tolkein’s Middle Earth in the acclaimed Lord of The Rings, the stunning Shropshire countryside is simply breathtaking.
Culturally rich, rugged and regal – and all within easy reach of your event – there is a wealth of choice for social programmes or extended stays.

The BAS would like to thank the Eastern Alpaca Group for hosting the Fleece Show.

Reminder for the Fibre Zone..

The BAS National Show will once again be hosting the hugely popular Fibre Zone Competition. This year categories will include garments, toys, yarns, household items and fabrics, or why not be daring and enter something unique into the open category.
The Penrose Fibre to Product trophy will be awarded to an entry in any category in the Fibre Zone or in the wider show that demonstrates particular ingenuity or promise to moving from artisan one-off products toward something commercially scalable that has not been seen with British alpaca before. There will also be a runner up trophy awarded.
Any item must be at least 50% British alpaca aside from the yarn classes which must be 100% UK alpaca unless otherwise stated.

It would really help the organisers (and the entrants!) if entries were received by them in advance, then the entries can be displayed at the Show to best effect.
